The Islamic belief is the only correct solution to Man's fundamental problem

Part 7 - Prophets came and went

When we look at the records related to such men, for some of them we cannot find any trace of any proof with which they would have verified their claim, while for others we find that they did bring signs to verify that they were sent by a higher power than Man. For example:

  • At the time of Moses, people prided themselves on being able to perform magic. That was their area of expertise, like in today's world it might be science or technology. Moses was able to perform magic to a level that was a degree separate from what men could do. In the court of Firawn, he was asked for a sign. And when the court magicians made their sticks appear to be snakes, by means of an illusion, Moses threw his stick down, and the stick turned into a snake that went and ate up the other "snakes". Later on, that same stick parted the Red Sea to allow his people to escape from Firawn. These aren't natural occurances.

  • In the time of Jesus, the people were skilled in medicine, and this was their area of expertise. Jesus came along, and as a sign, he not only healed the sick just by touching them... he brought people back from the dead. Again, this is not a natural occurance, and following these signs, people started taking him seriously, accepting that he was a Prophet of God.

None of these signs were of a permanent nature: they went when the person died and all that remains is historical records relayed through the memories and writings of those around them. But we were not there to see these physical miracles of Prophet in the past, we don't know even if these miracles existed or not. Therefore we have to look around us today and see if there is any lasting miracle that proves a Prophethood or proves a revelation.

There is one such man whose "miracle" remains to this to this day. And that is an otherwise ordinary man who lived in 6th century Arabia, by the name of Muhammed Ibn Abdullah. This miracle is the Quran.
