The Islamic belief is the only correct solution to Man's fundamental problem

Part 15 - Islam is the "Thinking Man's Belief"

Islam encourages thinking instead of blind belief. For Muslims, following Islam is not a case of:

  • Blindly taking on the habits and practices of the parents and grandparents.

  • Following Islam because they "enjoy it" (although they may well enjoy the benefits of the Islamic lifestyle).

  • Becoming a Muslim because he is a weak person, or because he lacks "self-confidence", or that he needs a "prop" in life, and so he believes in Allah.

Rather, it is a rational belief, and Allah pushes the Muslims to think and contemplate:

"Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth,
and the alternation of night and day,
- there are indeed Signs for men of understanding"

[TMQ Surah al-i-Imran 3:90]

It was narrated by Anas and Abu Dardah that Muhammed said "An hour in contemplation is worth more than spending a whole night in prayer."

Ibn Abbas, a companion of the Prophet (saw) said, "The Light of Iman (belief) is thinking".

One good example of how Muslims base their belief on thinking is a debate that took place between a scholar of Islam named Imam Abu Hanifah and some atheists.

Muslims base their belief upon definite rational proof rather than hearsay or mere emotion.

Allah in Quran has encouraged man to think and ponder deeply about his surroundings. Allah (Swt) said, "So let man reflect from what he is created." [TMQ 86:5]
