The Islamic belief is the only correct solution to Man's fundamental problem

Part 17 - Frequently Asked Questions

Question: "How can you say that God exists when there are so many bad things happening in the world today (famine, war, disease, oppression, tyrany etc.)"

Answer: This is a question which made some people reject the Christian belief because they saw a contradiction between the Christian description of God - as being gentle, kind etc. - and the reality of the world - which is harsh and cruel.

The assumption behind this question is that you already have some basis to know the attributes of God, i.e. you believe in the Christian doctrine, or that you have assumed/guessed some of the attributes of God.

Islamically, Allah (swt) has stated in the Quran and via the final prophet Muhammed (saw) that:

  • Mankind, including the believers, will be tested by any manner of hardship.

  • Bad consequences will result from the evil actions that Man performs. Islam caters for those who suffer with patience by offering the promise of Paradise.

So in Islam, there is no contradiction between Islam and the reality. Whereas the message of Jesus (Isa, (as)) has been lost to the present generation of Man, the message of Islam, which is the final revelation from the Creator of the Universe to Mankind, has been preserved until the end of time.

In summary, the question is false, because there is no basis to deduce that God is "100% nice". Further, the presence / absence of evil in the world is not a basis to deduce whether or not God exists. Rather, the fact that the world exists is sufficient proof that there must be a Creator (God / Allah) because rationally we can verify that nothing comes into existence by itself, and so saying that the Universe came into existence by itself or that it "always existed" is false.
