The Islamic belief is the only correct solution to Man's fundamental problem Part 6 - The first step: a criterion for prophethoodPeople say that there is no correct answer to the question of what the purpose of life is. But I ask - "Before you come to this conclusion, did you think deeply about the question itself?" Namely, if there was a Creator of the Universe, and he was to send Mankind some sort of message, how would you recognise it? I ask this because when you take the opportunity to step back for a moment and investigate, it is evident that there have been many people, in different times and places, who claim that they were messengers from the entity which created the universe itself. For example, the Indians recall people thousands of years ago who claimed that they had been in contact with such a being who had told them to write down what he said to them in the jungles, and convey it to the people. The product of that is some of the Hindu scriptures. Likewise, other men like Moses and Jesus have come and gone, claiming to be people who had been given a communication from the Creator of the universe. In the light of this we have to think and decide and formulate for ourselves the first tool. Namely if a man was sent by the Creator how would you recognise it? How would you know whether he is a fraud or whether he is genuine? The answer I propose is that you'd take him seriously if he brought a sign, a proof to verify his claim. If he was able to do something unnatural - a "miracle" - as a sign.
